Here at the Riviera Guesthouse, we’re already looking forward to 2026!
We are based in Whitby, the stunning seaside town on the Yorkshire Coast.
Our family-run, independent guesthouse is the perfect place to stay if you want to enjoy all the Whitby has to offer!
Here is a list of some of the 2026 events taking place next year, and we’ll add other events to this blog soon!

January
North Yorkshire Moors Railway Winter Excursions running to 4th January 2026.

February
Half Term events at Whitby Abbey usually take place with details revealed in the New Year.
In the meantime, take a look at their website for events taking place soon.
13th February to 1st March – Dark Skies Festival in the North York Moors National Park.
March
This month’s events yet to be announced.
April
On the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th April, the Made in Whitby Krampus Easter Festival will take place at Whitby Abbey.
May
1st, 2nd and 3rd May – Spring Edition of Whitby Goth Festival!
This is a MUST for fans of gothic culture, and the town is always packed when these events take place.
Be prepared for a feast for all the senses.
16th and 17th May – Whitby Fish and Ships Festival – a fantastic event celebrating Whitby’s connections to the sea.
June
From 5th June, Scarborough Open Air Theatre, just a 40-minute drive from Whitby.
This famous venue attracts some of the best musicians in the world, and 2026 is no exception.

2nd and 3rd July – Made in Whitby Summer Festival at the Whitby Brewery.
August
8th, 9th and 10th August – Whitby Regatta. This annual event really attracts the crowds, so don’t leave it too late too book your accommodation with us.
September

October
The Autumn edition of Whitby Goth Festival takes place 30th and 31st October and 1st November.
November
19th to 22nd November – Whitby Lit Fest. Details yet to be announced.
2025’s event was a great success so we’re looking forward to finding out more!
December
5th and 6th December – Made in Whitby Krampus Winter Festival at Whitby Abbey.
12th and 13th December – Made in Whitby Christmas Festival, Whitby Brewery.
