A change of season here in Whitby … and there’s still lots going on!

We have had a brilliant Summer and now we are looking forward to an awesome Autumn.

Our family run guesthouse in Whitby on the Yorkshire Coast.

Whitby Pavilion

Whitby 60s Festival 19th to 21st September, Whitby Pavilion

 

Spanning three days, the line up includes:

Foundations, Union Gap, Dreamers, 60s Songbirds on Friday evening.

Fourmost, Beatles for Sale, The Fabs (plus support) on Saturday evening.

Amen Corner, The Moggies, Moondogs (plus support) on Sunday evening.

Other artists include the Roy Orbison Experience, Buddy Holly Story and Support, Elvis Mark Summers, Rag Dolls and Jersey Boys Show during the afternoons.

Illuminated Abbey 24th October to 1st November, Whitby Abbey 

Whitby Abbey, cared for by English Heritage, will look dramatic after dark as it once again illuminated during the above dates from 6pm to 9pm.

Follow the light trail, enjoy delicious food and you are encouraged to come in spooky-inspired costumes!

Time Will Tell will perform The Dead Shall Walk The Earth.

Keep an eye open for an appearance by County Dracula.

Whitby Goth Weekend®, Thursday 30th October to  Sunday 2ndNovember, various locations

 

This world famous event attracts thousands of visitors and this year is taking place at the Royal Hotel in Whitby.

All four days have a spectacular line up of bands, DJs and fringe events, The Devil’s Tailor exhibition, daytime events, the WGW Bizarre Bazaar and more.

Whitby Blues Festival, 8th to 9th November 2025, Whitby Pavilion 

Including Big Dez, Jo Harman and the Tremain Sisters, Krissy Matthews, Crow Black Chicken,  and Jack-Austin Despy Blues Band.

Other artists include Medicine Head, Jon Armor Trio, Malcolm Bruce Blues Trio Blue Nation, Lightning Threads, Thomas Heppell and more.

Whitby Lit Fest, 6th to 9th November 

The inaugural year for this much-anticipated event, it will celebrate Whitby’s literary heritage.

The event is set to include Sir Alan Ayckbourn, Lee Child and numerous interviews, panel discussions, music, workshops, poetry and spoken word, and more.

Fifty authors will take part in venues across the town.

Whitby Christmas

Whitby Christmas Market and Festival, 14th to 16th  November 2025

Organised by Whitby Town Council, this annual event is full of festive fun including crafts stalls, food and drink, children’s entertainment, 

 

Robin Hoods Bay Victorian Weekend 6th and 7th December 

The Bay

This spectacular event transforms this picturesque fishing village, just a few miles south of Whitby, into an immersive Victorian-themed experience.

Carols, artisan stalls, children’s entertainment, and more including Victorian costumes and more.

This is a free and popular event so get there early and enjoy this memorable event taking place along Robin Hood’s Bay’s cobbled streets.

 

Whitby Krampus Run, 6th and 7th December 2025

 

Usually starting at Chapel on the Hill, children are encouraged to make their own masks, wear them throughout the event and even sit on the Krampus Throne!

The run, or parade, is blessed with Whitby Salt, and models of the Whitby Wyrm, a dragon-like figure, then takes place near the Whitby Abbey.

On the Sunday Krampus can be spotted throughout the town and there is usually a Hoss Race on the abbey headland.

Proceeds go towards local charities.
