STAGE ONE VISITS WHITBY ON FRIDAY 28TH APRIL 2017

Whether you like getting around on two wheels or four, the Tour de Yorkshire is one heck of a tough race!

With three gruelling stages, Stage One visits Whitby on Friday 28th April 2017.
This year, there’s an exciting sprint section in the town with the historic Abbey in full view!

The event also coincides with the May Day Bank Holiday weekend, so it's the ideal time to enjoy some Riviera Guest House hospitality.

If you want to see the race in all its glory, the competitors are due in Whitby at around 3.50pm.
ONE OF THE BIGGEST EVENTS IN THE WHITBY CALENDAR
What’s the connection between an 80’s icon, a Victorian Irish author and some mysterious local folklore?

Well, it has to be Whitby Goth Weekend, of course!

If you’re old enough to remember the 80’s, you’ll remember Toyah Willcox, the colourful singer and actress who has chameleon-like qualities when it comes to costumes and cosmetics.

And if you’re not quite ‘of that age’, then prepare to be wowed by this remarkable performer who’s appearing at the spring ‘helping’ of Whitby Goth Weekend, WGW for short, on Friday 21st April at Whitby Pavilion
WHITBY'S CONNECTION WITH EASTER IS AN INTERESTING ONE
Easter is a magical time of year: spring has arrived, bouncy lambs are jumping around in the fields, and the Easter bunny leaves us lots of shiny, yummy chocolate eggs on Easter morning!

Yet Whitby’s connection with Easter goes way back through the ‘sea frets’ of time.
In fact, the link can be traced back to the year 664, some four hundred years before the Norman Conquest of 1066.
