With just a few weeks to go until Christmas (like you needed reminding!), Whitby goes “all festive” on 17th, 18th and 19th November 2017 with the annual Whitby Christmas Festival and Market. Held at the Marina Front Car Park under the silhouette of the gothic Abbey and next to the bustling harbour, this event will get you in the Christmas spirit!

Organised by Whitby Town Council, it’s an occasion capturing all that’s special about this time of year: twinkly lights, tempting food and drink stalls, activities, and there’ll even be some festive fireworks.

The three-day seasonal spectacular will launch on Friday 17th November with the community lantern procession from Pannett Art Gallery down to the festival site, ready for the Christmas Light Switch On later that same evening.

Whitby Town Council held a competition earlier this autumn to design the Mayoral Christmas Card and the winner will be revealed during the event. Not only that, the winner will have the honour of switching on the fantastic Christmas Lights – something for the winner to remember for many years to come!

The festive fireworks display will take place on Saturday 18th November.

And the fun does not stop there! There’ll be fairground rides, music, great food and even a pop up cinema that will run throughout the weekend.
Local radio station, Yorkshire Coast Radio, will present a music stage so local talent can shine like the Christmas star!

Whitby Christmas Festival is planned months ahead and is a real draw for visitors. We can’t wait.

So you could make a weekend of it and book a night or two with us – really make it a pre-Christmas treat.
